February 14th is coming up soon- what have you got planned? Were you thinking about a romantic dinner with your sweetie? Edmonton is home to a wide variety of fine dining establishments. And whatever cuisine tickles your palate, Edmonton’s probably got it. A number of restaurants offer specials for Valentine’s Day. Worried about which one to choose? We’ve selected the top three restaurants in Alberta’s capital for your perfect V-day meal.

If you’re looking for upscale twists on your favourite home cooked meals, book a table at the Century Grill. The corporate chef Paul Shufelt has created what he calls “an ambitious menu that promises a dish to satisfy every taste.” The starters menu alone has 14 offerings, including roasted popcorn in truffle butter, pan seared chicken and pork dumplings served with Korean-style BBQ sauce and homemade kimchi, and tacos filled with grilled prawns and jicama slaw. Main dishes include your choice of tataki, Kobe beef carpaccio, and meat-filled sandwiches. Don’t forget about dessert: the Century Grill offers crème brulee, a decadent chocolate cake, and homemade cheesecake.

The Century Grill is located at 3975 Calgary Trail. For reservations, click here.

Lazia Restaurant

Are you in the mood for something Asian, but your partner’s craving Mediterranean fare? You don’t have to go to two different restaurants to get what you want- just head to one of Lazia’s two locations. Munch on spring rolls while your dining companion enjoys bruschetta for a starter. Lazia has something special for Valentine’s Day: you can purchase a three course meal for $49.95. You choose the starter and the entrée, and then you receive a dessert to share with that special someone (or not, but don’t blame us if your honey doesn’t want to talk to you afterwards). The offer is valid at both locations.

The downtown location of Lazia is 10200 102 Ave. NW, Suite A113. You can make reservations for the downtown location by calling (780) 990-0188 or clicking here. The northern location of Lazia is 13503 St. Albert Trail NW. You can make reservations for northern location by calling (780) 488-3823 or clicking here.

Royal Coach Dining Room

“Romance” is a French word, so why not dine on French cuisine on the most romantic day of the year? The Royal Coach Dining Room offers what executive chef Lorne Soles dubs “a casually elegant approach” to French food. The restaurant prides itself on using the freshest ingredients possible, and has its own vegetable and herb garden. There are also some distinctly Canadian touches on the menu, such as the Alberta lamb loin chops served with wilted spinach, cherry tomatoes and pesto-stuffed olives, and the fillet of wild sockeye salmon, brushed with Saskatoon berry butter.

The Royal Coach Dining Room is located at the Chateau Louis hotel, at 11727 Kingsway NW. You can call 1-800-661-9843 to make reservations.
