An Exciting Partnership (Ronald McDonald House):
Leading up to the 2010 Holiday Season, the Ramada Conference Centre Edmonton contacted Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta informing us they’d selected the House as the recipient of the proceeds of their ‘Friends in Need’ Campaign. The campaign allocates $10.00 for every room booked at the Ramada over the holidays to their charity of choice and was extremely successful.
After taking the opportunity to tour the House and engage some of the children and families before their campaign, the Ramada decided they could do much more to support the House and the families needing to come to Edmonton for their child’s medical treatment.
During the Holidays, the leadership team at the Ramada took some time to brainstorm ideas about way to support the House and presented them to us early in 2011; and they came up with some fantastic ideas!
Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta is now proudly listed as the Ramada Conference Centre Edmonton’s charity of choice. The children at the House have been excited to create artwork which is displayed on holiday cards, sold at the Ramada, with all proceeds benefitting the House. The children’s artwork is also displayed on all of their key card holders, asking guests at the Ramada to donate $2.00 to the House upon checkout.
The Ramada Conference Centre Edmonton also identified their ability to help in the unfortunate situation where the House is completely full. They’ve offered a very low special rate and free breakfast for families needing accommodations when all 30 rooms at the House are occupied. In order to make the hotel feel a little bit extra special they’re also remodelling family suites at the hotel, making them fun for the families and kids and doing all that they can to ease the stress associated with the illness of a child. When these special family suites aren’t occupied by families who would otherwise be at the House, a percentage of the cost will be donated to Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta, ensuring that we can continue to provide a home away from home for critically ill children and their families.
